Due to the lockdown, there are old and vulnerable people in and around the Northwich area who have not had their feet treated since it came into effect on 23rd March 2020. Some haven’t seen their Podiatrist since the end of January, resulting in discomfort and pain.
The College of Podiatry guidelines have changed recently to enable private Podiatrists to treat more people in the community. Prior to this change to the guidelines on 11th May, practitioners were only able to treat high risk patients to prevent limb or life-threatening infections. This has left many with lower risk feet struggling with sore feet. That can now change even though the Spector of Covid-19 is still present.
Stay Safe – Stay Home
Cloud Podiatry is a new mobile private podiatry business that launched in May to treat people in and around Northwich from the relatively safe environment of their own home. Mr Robert Weighill – an NHS trained Podiatrist and the owner - is fully trained in the use of PPE in the community and infection control. Robert attends every appointment wearing a facemask, face shield, gloves, apron and shoe covers. Equipment and hands are also cleansed before and after each appointment.
A pre-appointment patient screening and risk-assessment is done to ensure the patient complies with the current guidelines and knows what to expect from the home visit. Although not all patients can be seen, people who are in pain or at risk of infection should enquire.
